When was the last time you got lost? Was it an enjoyable experience, or a stressful one? Tell us all about it.
When I read this prompt, a recent event came to mind. It was a Monday a few weeks ago, I had two interviews lined up, one at 10 and one at noon. No problem, plenty of time to leave the one interview, stop at Timmy’s, have a bite to eat and then go onto the next interview, right?
So, I leave the excellent first interview (I didn’t get the job by the way) and off I go, I have my GPS on just for the heck of it, it’s not updated so it doesn’t have the new configuration of roads in it, but it gives me a dot on the screen to aim for just in case! I have looked at the map of the area a billion times, so I know where I am going. Plus I know where Timmy’s is, I’ve been there 3 times before, missed the turn once during one of those times, and the second interview is across the street! Easy peasy.
I get to that fateful intersection and miss my right turn DAMN! So around I go, drive drive drive (cos there is no other turn for awhile), come back to said intersection and miss it again (in wrong lane this time), go over into the next city (cos I have no choice), turn around and come back and guess what MISS IT AGAIN. Same thing, end up back out in the other city turn around come back. It was ten to 12, so I pull over an call the interviewer, saying I may be late.
I finally got the right turn, and show up at 5 minutes past, but it’s all a moot point anyway cos 2 minutes after the second interviewer joined us I knew there was no way I was getting the job. By this point I was frazzled for being late, so annoyed at myself for missing the stupid turn and hungry to boot. But in my defense, it gets backed up there something fierce, with semi trucks, so it is easy to miss this turn. The new road and such was supposed to be helpful…it is not, just more backed up traffic. I think I would have been fine if the traffic wasn’t so crappy that day lol 🙂
Have great days!! 🙂
