Writing 101: Day Nineteen: Don’t Stop the Rockin’
On this free writing day, remember the words of author Anne Lamott: “I don’t think you have time to waste not writing because you are afraid you won’t be good at it.” Write at least 400 words, non-stop, no editing etc.
When he woke he felt the cold and the dampness and tried to move away from it. He was groggy and disorientated and he tried to stretch out but couldn’t. It was dark and dirty but he was still so tired and so he fell asleep again.
He woke a day later, oh what a good sleep! It was still dark, dirty and damp but he was cozy warm now. He tried stretching his cramped muscles again. They gave alittle. He pondered his predicament coming up with no solutions. All he could remember was snuggling down with his siblings, they were all preparing for a long nap.
hey guys? He asked. Wait where is everyone? Where was he.? Hello? He asked tentatively anyone there? Hey! He heard back from not faraway in the darkness. where are we? I dunno he answered.
The next time he awoke, it was still dark, dirty but dry and hot. He was parched. Then a gushing of water poured down on him and he drank. He tried stretching again and his muscles eased a little more. Oh thats good he sighed. What was his purpose, why was he here? He did not know. He still could not remember much except gathering with his siblings for a nap.
Few days later, after yet another attempt stretch out his aching muscles, he finally broke through. Oh! It was bright! He reached his arms out wide, palms up towards the sun and then he remembered. He remembered why he was here and his purpose. He was gonna grow up and feed the world!
Well that was sad and only 265 words long…I could go back thru it and edit and add etc but I’m not ‘allowed’ lol 🙂
