The little white envelope skidded across the avenue, caught up the vortex of wind, almost hitting her in face. It lodged itself in the shrubbery that lined the sidewalk and she stood, staring at it in wonder, one hand firmly holding her hat on, the other on her grocery bag. Should she take it? It might be important to someone. Looking up and down the street and seeing no one she reached for the letter.
Oh damn! she thought as her hat flew off and away down the sidewalk. Grabbing the envelope and tucking it into her shopping bag she ran after the wayward hat. Where would we be without shrubbery? She wondered as the plucked the offending hat off the bush.
Curious, she tucked her hat in her bag and took the letter out. It was sealed and addressed but had no stamp, nor a return address and not wanting to open it as it was probably private she decided to mail it, hoping that that was the right thing to do.
