Writing 101, Day Three: Commit to a Writing Practice
Today, celebrate three songs that are significant to you. For your twist, write for fifteen minutes without stopping — and build a writing habit.
Wow, choose 3 songs…well that is hard cos I love music! All kinds, tho I’m not fond of religious and opera. My Mum calls what I call opera, pop, so I dunno there. I do like Andrea Bocelli’s Nessun Dorma…see I thought this was opera, sounds like it to me! Lol
So three songs off the top of my head right now are:
Damn You to Hell by The Texas Hippie Coalition
Me and the Devil by Gil Scott-Heron
Song for Zula by Phosphorescent
I like music cos I make up stories in my head with it, either nice or mean, depending on the mood I’m in lol and it makes me happy, takes me away from life. I am finding it hard to write anything really these days cos my mind is focused so much on the fact that I haven’t gotten a job yet and it’s been 11 months. So that always trickles in somehow in whatever I do. Frankly it’s annoying. Like right now I should be thinking about all the songs I like and how music makes me feel, but instead I’m wondering why I wasn’t hired from that last interview I went on. ARG!
Anyway, that’s my free write for the day…not very much but oh well. I’ll try to write everyday but it’ll probably be all about that idiot who bought the company I worked for and what a dick he is and how it seems sometimes that one can’t get ahead at all in life.
I think I will go blast some music in my ears and forget 🙂
