Daily Prompt: A Name for Yourself
Some writer’s names have become adjectives: Kafkaesque, Marxist, Orwellian, sadistic. If your name (or nickname, or blog name) were to become and adjective, what would it mean?
My name is already an adjective among a few friends and family. Certain shirts have become Kerry shirts. These are usually cotton, striped or not, 3/4 or long sleeves, scoop or v-neck. My sister started that one. A certain portion size of food has become a Kerry portion, it’s small by most people’s standards, yet filling. This one is my fault lol.
My name is also a place, Kerry, in Ireland and there was a thatch roofed house in England called Kerry. I remember seeing the photo of what looked like a little bungalow, the sign hanging onto the fence by one nail. My Mum said it was the last house they stayed in before coming to Canada.
It is also in the mispronunciation of Harakiri (Seppuku). Mostly my name is a verb, people carry things, carry on, carry forward…so I doubt it could ever become a widespread adjective. Plus, I don’t think I’d want it to be. I can’t see myself doing anything so spectacular that it would warrant that!
Have a great day! 🙂
